Korea: The Forgotten War Begins Preproduction

Release Date:

Director Shadow Mihai has announced the pilot episode of his project "Korea: The Forgotten War - individual choices that affected the world."

Mihai is taking on this topic because of its pivotal spot in the development of our world today - which is not well documented or discussed. The Korean War is often termed the "forgotten war" for good reason - media coverage did not focus on the war as it did later in Vietnam, either during or since the war.

Aside from the usual factual exploration found in good documentary works, Shadow Mihai intends to bring the story down to what he thinks is the most important level - the human level. Part of the story is to be told in the exploits and choices taken by individuals at every level, choices which were sometimes, as in daily life, taken on the spur of the moment or without any real thought. It is this human element, common in all people in every situation, which illuminates the tragedies and triumphs of the struggle.

The project, initially defined as 13 1-hour episodes with accompanying book, will cover the Korean war from its origins at the end of World War Two, throughout the shooting conflict, and up to today. "One of the 'forgotten' parts of the forgotten war is that we are still at war today... we only have a truce. The tensions between north and south in Korea are far from gone and there really is a possibility of a shooting war again," says director Shadow Mihai.

The first "pilot" episode will detail the men of the 45th Infantry Division of the U.S. Army. The 45th was involved in major battles throughout the war, including Old Baldy, Pork Chop Hill, T-bone Hill and others.

Korea: The Forgotten War also examines in detail the last and most controversial post of General Of The Army Douglas MacArthur, whose decades-long reputation was ruined by his conflict with then President Truman. Shadow Mihai is a MacArthur scholar and is developing feature film and theatre properties on the very long career of this famous general.

Those who would like to support this project in any way can do so by contacting the director on the SJS contact page, or by going to indiegogo.com, where people can contribute to initial funding and get valuable premiums.
